2027 AAPT ANNUAL MEETING AND TECHNICAL SESSIONS

Call for Papers

 

The Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT) is soliciting papers for consideration of presentation at its 2027 Annual Meeting and Technical Sessions to be held March 22-25) and for publication in a Special Collection of the Transportation Research Record (TRR). Papers reporting on studies concerning any aspect of asphalt paving technology or related fields will be considered, including asphalt materials, design, construction, maintenance/preservation, and research applications.

 

The following are options for submission:

  • Presentation and Publication

The option for submitters wishing to be considered for presentation at the AAPT Annual Meeting and considered for publication in a Special Collection of the Transportation Research Record (TRR).

Note that publication decisions are made solely by the AAPT Editorial Board on the basis of peer review; presentation decisions are made by the AAPT Board of Directors.

  • Presentation Only

The option for submitters wishing to present their work at the AAPT Annual Meeting, but who: (a) may not want to write a full paper; (b) may not want to subject their work to the paper review/selection/revision process required for publication; or (c) who have previously published their work and are interested only in presenting.

As noted before, presentation decisions are made by the Board of Directors.

 

For those authors wishing to publish, but not present, we encourage you to submit your paper to TRR through the normal paper submission process.

 

Submissions for Presentation and Publication

Papers submitted for consideration of Presentation and Publication shall be a maximum of 27 pages (8.5″ x 11″) – including figures, tables, references, and any appendices – in TRR format. Title Pages and Abstracts typically do not count as part of the page limit. No cover letter is needed with the submission.

Each paper submission should be on a unique topic (i.e., not a single topic parsed into multiple paper submissions).

All submissions for consideration of publication shall be made via the Transportation Research Record Editorial Manager site at https://www.editorialmanager.com/trr/default2.aspx  by no later than August 17.

To be fair to other authors and reviewers, please adhere to the submission deadline.

The Special Collections name will be shown as “Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists Conference.” Step-by-step instructions on the submission process are described in the “Submitting for a Special Collection” PDF.

In addition to the paper submitted for publication, the AAPT Board asks that the author(s) also submit an abstract as described in the section below.

 

Submissions for Consideration of Presentation

Submissions for Presentation Only should be an abstract of no more than 2 pages. The purpose of the abstract is to provide enough information for the AAPT Board of Directors to fairly assess whether to offer a presentation slot to the submitter. The following are required elements:

  • Title with author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s)
    • This element does not count towards the page limit.
  • Abstract
    • A summary of the proposed presentation.
  • Relevance to the AAPT Audience
    • A brief statement as to why this presentation would be of interest to a conference audience.

Abstracts for consideration of presentation at the Annual Meeting may be made by emailing them to papers@asphalttechnology.org by no later than August 17.

 

Presentation at the AAPT Annual Meeting

Please note that a presentation slot at the Annual Meeting may be offered as part of a podium session or as part of a General Poster Session. If the author has a preference, we ask that they indicate that on their title page of the Abstract (e.g., “Offered for presentation at the 2027 AAPT Annual Meeting. Poster session preferred.” or “Offered for presentation at the 2027 AAPT Annual Meeting. Podium session preferred.”) If there is no statement, then the Board will assume that there is no preference on presentation format.

The type of presentation cannot be guaranteed but the author’s wishes will be considered by the Board.
