2021 AAPT ANNUAL MEETING AND TECHNICAL SESSIONS – Call for Paper Briefs
The Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists (AAPT) is actively soliciting paper briefs for consideration of presentation at its 2021 Annual Meeting and Technical Sessions and publication in a Special Collection of the Transportation Research Record (TRR). Paper briefs reporting on studies concerning any aspect of asphalt paving technology or related fields are considered. These can include research, design, construction, and maintenance issues dealing with all types of asphalt binders, asphalt mixtures, and pavement applications.
Note that paper briefs may be submitted with the following options:
- Presentation and publication – consideration of publication in a Special Collection of the Transportation Research Record (TRR) and presentation at the AAPT Annual Meeting. Publication decisions are made by the AAPT Editorial Board. Presentation decisions are made by the AAPT Board of Directors, with consideration of recommendations from the Editorial Board.
- Publication only – consideration of publication in a Special Collection of the Transportation Research Record (TRR). Publication decisions are made by the AAPT Editorial Board.
- Presentation only – consideration of presentation at the AAPT Annual Meeting. Presentation decisions are made by the Board of Directors.
Paper briefs shall be no less than four (4) pages and no more than ten (10) pages following the current Transportation Research Board (TRB) and TRR formatting requirements (except the TRB word limit). The brief should contain sufficient detail to give the reviewer an understanding of the intent of the proposed paper and/or presentation. Graphics and tables may be included, and are encouraged, to aid in conveying that intent to the reviewer. Please see instructions at https://trb.secure-platform.com/a/page/trrjournal/forauthors
All paper briefs shall be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 15, 2021. To be fair to other authors and reviewers please note that this is a firm deadline.
Paper briefs submitted for consideration of publication will be reviewed by the AAPT Editorial Board and a decision will be made regarding its disposition by mid-April. Reviewer questions, comments, and suggested revisions will be provided to the authors. If recommended for further evaluation, authors will be invited to submit a full paper (normal AAPT length that translates to 27 pages in TRB/TRR format) by May 24, 2021. The full paper will be reviewed by the AAPT Editorial Board prior to a publication decision. Final publication decisions are made only by the AAPT Editorial Board.
Paper briefs submitted for consideration of presentation will be reviewed by the Board of Directors and a decision regarding an invitation to present at the Annual Meeting will be made by the end of June.
